Lavli business since 2012

Lavli was founded in 2012 and has already gone through many 'chapters' in its short lifetime. The name 'Lavli' comes from the English word, 'Lovely'.  This is simply because its mission is to provide customers with everything lovely.         

The story of Lavli began in Australia. While living in in Australia I discovered women's activewear brand, Lorna Jane, which had taken sports fashion to a whole new level. But it was the brand's 'MOVE, NOURISH, BELIEVE' lifestyle philosophy that inspired me the most. In 2012, Lavli was one of the first LJ distributors outside Australia with exclusive rights to Finland.

During its first years, Lavli focused on launching the Lorna Jane brand in Finland. I was running an online store and organised a lot of pop up shops and wellness events. A few years later, when Lavli already had a loyal customer community, the idea of opening Lavli's own lifestyle concept store was born.

In 2016 Lavli living room' opened its doors in downtown Helsinki. 

Lavli living room concept store combined shopping, wellness services and events.  It included a Lorna Jane shop, tea bar, boutique training classes, inspiring wellness events, private functions, art exhibitions, work space and lounge to chill out and gather. 

The concept was loved by the customers and collaborators. The store amazed customers from all over the world and (I was told) it actually generated happiness, good vibes and lifestyle changes. I consider that to be my biggest win & reward ever.

Lavli living room hosted and/ or organised wellness themed events weekly basis.

Unfortunately Lavli Living Room had to be closed after just one year. Even if the customers loved concept, it was not enough. I made a few big mistakes and my budget and timeframe were too optimistic. I had no other option than to close the store. I experienced a total breakdown in all areas of my life: financially, emotionally and physically.

To survive through the hard times and to actually save the business required so much strength, problem solving, perseverance, patience ( I never thought was possible) – and most of all, support from my family and friends, something I will never forget. 

Against all odds Lavli survived and is still up and running. Lavli was free from all the concept store debt in December 2022! 🎉

A bit after Lavli living room closed down Lavli also finished as Lorna Jane distributor. It was time for a change.  That time I had almost 20 years experience in the marketing, sales and events so it felt natural and easy choice to return to my core expertise, offering marketing services.  Last 5-6 six years I have worked mainly in marketing and event productions, produced a lot of social media content, photo shoots, websites, and sales campaigns and also some very special art installation projects with Kamppi Helsinki shopping centre.

2024, finally, I had a chance to take some time off and re-boot after very hectic 10 years. It was time to leave all the past Lavli's chapter's  behind and prepare myself for the new exciting era.

I believe that everything we experience (the good and the bad and the ugly) has a meaning and a life lesson. My past experiences has definitely demonstrated that - and in so many ways. I have learned so much, not only about business but also about myself.  No matter Lavli's future business will be, one thing is sure. I will continue to be true to my values and support fellow entrepreneurs and small businesses, always when possible. We need to cheer people willing to take risks and encourage their dreams and visions, and support whenever possible to minimise the obstacles that get in their way.
